Beau has two decades of experience in private practice, assisting parties to resolve their disputes in arbitration, adjudication and mediation.
He was previously a partner in a top-ranked international firm in Dubai and, more recently, led the regional Construction and Construction Disputes practice for another major international firm in the UAE, focusing on commercial and construction-related arbitration.
During his time in private practice, Beau focused on the resolution of complex disputes. His experience ranges from commercial debt and breach of contract claims to high-value construction, infrastructure and development disputes, including investor-state arbitration under international treaties.
He has acted in numerous arbitration proceedings, both as counsel and as arbitrator, and his experience includes handling disputes valued at several billion US dollars. He is deeply familiar with regional laws and customs and has extensive experience in handling large disputes in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Iraq and Kuwait.
Beau is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has acted as Sole Arbitrator, Co-Arbitrator and Chairman of the Tribunal in a variety of arbitration proceedings. He has extensive experience of arbitration under most major institutional rules, including DIAC, ICC, LCIA, SCCA, SIAC and arbitrateAD, as well as ad hoc and UNCITRAL proceedings.
In addition to his work as arbitrator, Beau acts as a mediator, assisting parties seeking collaborative dispute resolution. He also takes appointments as adjudicator in both “standing” dispute adjudication boards and ad hoc proceedings, with a particular focus on FIDIC-related adjudication.
Beau has over 19 years’ experience working across the Middle East. He previously worked in Saudi Arabia for two years before relocating to Dubai in 2007 and is deeply familiar with regional laws and customs.
